In Flanders Field.
In Flanders Field
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae
List some of the descriptive words the poet uses and explain why they are effective.
Some of the descriptive words that the poet uses are
- Quarrel, faith, scarce. These words are effective because it puts outs a better message using more interesting words rather than using short words.
Why do you think the poet wrote this poem? What was he/she trying to achieve?
i think that the poet wrote this poem to remind people that the soldiers that fought in war will never be forgotton and if people wanted to pay their respects they could go to flanders fields.i also think that he was trying ti get to peoples head about how many soldiers died trying to fight for our country and not many people actually knew how many people actually passed away while fighting this war.
Write down your favourite line/lines from the poem. Explain why you picked them.
my favourite lines from this poem would have to be:
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky .
They are my favourtite lines because row by row between the crosses poppys are laid and set free marking their importance in the sky.
Does this poem ryhme?
No it doesnt.

War Poem
the days go past quickly.
and the nights go past lonely.
as the familys worry, the soldiers are fighting the countrys.
as they worry and pray for strength. and for survival.
the soldiers are there fighting for history.
soldiers fighting for their own country.
trying to protect the people that live here.
as soldiers go down one by one.
our country is getting stronger (L)
